John White, as a painter of hard edge abstraction will discuss the theories and uses of color.
John White was born and grew up in Matawan. He has been a resident of the Navesink/Atlantic Highlands area for over forty years. He is a graduate of the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Arts and New York University. He worked as a commercial artist in New York City and taught in the Madison Township and Hazlet school systems.
John has participated in group shows at the Monmouth County Visitor Center, the Monmouth County Library, Guild of Creative Art, Art Alliance, Brookdale College and the Monmouth Museum. He has had a gallery show at the Middletown Library and State of the Arts Gallery in Atlantic Highlands.
"Much of the enjoyment I get from painting is related to working with color. In the landscapes the choice of colors is largely dictated by nature. In the abstracts, I can choose the colors and develop a composition to fit the colors or vice versa."
